I'm already in the MCIT program. Can I switch to MAS-CS?

Yes. Current MCIT students have the opportunity to submit a Change of Degree form to switch to the MAS-CS program at any time before the start of their final semester.

I've already been admitted into the MCIT program for Fall 2026. Can I switch to MAS-CS?

Yes. If you have already accepted the offer of admission to the MCIT Online program, then you may request a change of degree and it will go into effect at the start of Spring 2027.

I've already submitted an application for the MCIT online program. How do I change my application to MAS-CS online?

Should you be admitted into the MCIT program you will concurrently be admitted into the MAS-CS program as well. At the time of your decision to enroll you will have the option of which program to accept enrollment in.

I'm already in the process for applying to the MCIT program but would like to apply for MAS-CS instead. How should I proceed?

You have the option on your application to change your program of intent before you submit your application.

Will my concentration be listed on my transcript?

Yes, your concentration will be reflected on your transcript.

How does choosing a concentration affect my application?

Expressing interest in any area of concentration (or not) will not affect your application.

What is the difference between a concentration, a certificate, and a dual degree?

Concentrations may be earned as a part of your MAS-CS degree. Certificates and dual degrees can only be completed post-grad.

Can I pursue more than one concentration?

No. In order to complete the rigorous coursework required to provide graduates with strong computer science foundations and to complete the courses needed for one area of concentration, there is not a possibility to pursue additional concentrations as part of your MAS-CS degree coursework. However, after obtaining your MAS-CS degree, we do have options post-grad for you to earn certifications and dual degree programs should you wish to expand your studies. Does pursuing a concentration add any courses to my degree plan?

No. You will take the same number of courses as would a MAS-CS graduate who has not selected a concentration. It will, however, impact which courses you are required to complete in order to obtain a concentration.

Is choosing a concentration binding?

No. You may choose to opt out of any concentration at any time during the application and admission process, or during the completion of your MAS-CS degree.

Am I required to choose a concentration during the application cycle?

No. If you are interested in selecting a concentration as part of your MAS-CS degree, you will have the opportunity do so after the admissions process as guided by our academic advisors.

Am I required to choose a concentration at all?

No, you are not required to choose a concentration. With or without a concentration selected, our MAS-CS program will provide you with a world-class education in computer sceince and prepare you to make real-world impact in your career.

How do I select a concentration during the application cycle?

When submitting your application, you will be asked to indicate whether you have an interest in any of our program concentrations as part of the MAS-CS degree. This choice is neither permanent nor binding. More information regarding concentration selection will be provided after the admissions process. Expressed interest in any area of concentration (or not) will not affect your application.

What concentrations are available?

There are concentration options available with the MAS-CS program in Engineering Entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Software Systems. Should you choose a concentration pathway, it will be reflected on your transcript upon graduation. Choosing a concentration is not mandatory.

How is the MAS-CS program different from the former MCIT degree?

Our Online MAS-CS program expands on our previous Online MCIT degree by offering students the option to choose concentrations and by more accurately reflecting the rigorous, applied foundational computer science curriculum required for this degree. The MAS-CS degree will prepare students to build the systems, tools, and AI-driven solutions shaping modern life.
