MAS-CS Program Information

What is the difference between a concentration, a certificate, and a dual degree?

Concentrations may be earned as a part of your MAS-CS degree. Certificates and dual degrees can only be completed post-grad.

Can I pursue more than one concentration?

No. In order to complete the rigorous coursework required to provide graduates with strong computer science foundations and to complete the courses needed for one area of concentration, there is not a possibility to pursue additional concentrations as part of your MAS-CS degree coursework. However, after obtaining your MAS-CS degree, we do have options post-grad for you to earn certifications and dual degree programs should you wish to expand your studies. Learn more about our post-grad programs here.

Does pursuing a concentration add any courses to my degree plan?

No. You will take the same number of courses as would a MAS-CS graduate who has not selected a concentration. It will, however, impact which courses you are required to complete in order to obtain a concentration.

Is choosing a concentration binding?

No. You may choose to opt out of any concentration at any time during the application and admission process, or during the completion of your MAS-CS degree.

Am I required to choose a concentration at all?

No, you are not required to choose a concentration. With or without a concentration selected, our MAS-CS program will provide you with a world-class education in computer sceince and prepare you to make real-world impact in your career.

What concentrations are available?

There are concentration options available with the MAS-CS program in Engineering Entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Software Systems. Should you choose a concentration pathway, it will be reflected on your transcript upon graduation. Choosing a concentration is not mandatory.
