How do I apply to MSE-DS Online?
In addition to the online application, you’ll need to submit a personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a resume, along with offical English Language Proficiency scores (TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo) if you’re an international applicant or a non-U.S. citizen/permanent resident for whom English is not their first language. What career options will I have with the MSE-DS Online degree?
MSE-DS Online is a new program so the outcomes data is not available at this time. Please refer to the School of Engineering and Applies Sciences Career Outcomes report.
Can I attend class from anywhere in the world? Even while traveling?
Yes, these are asynchronous, remote programs with no required log in sessions.
How long does it take to complete a Penn Engineering Online degree program?
A Penn Engineering Online degree program requires the successful completion of ten courses. Students have access to a Student Success Advising Team that can help them plan their course schedule and overall degree plan. Students can easily switch between part-time and full-time registration each semester based on how many courses they take. Enrollment in the summer semester is optional. We encourage all students to meet with a member of our Student Success Advising Team to discuss the course load and route to degree completion that best fits their needs. Depending on how many classes you take each semester, you can complete the program in 16 to 40 months.
What is the cost of a Penn Engineering Online degree program?

I’ve always had a deep commitment to expanding access to education and knowledge on a global scale. I’ve also had a long-standing research interest in how data science can inform innovations in many different disciplines, from science and medicine to law and finance. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of Penn Engineering Online’s newest degree program.
The MSE-DS Online program builds on Penn’s tremendously successful on-campus program and reimagines it for a virtual platform. By doing so, it extends our world-class data science curriculum to students all over the world. With fully online courses, the program gives you the flexibility to learn on your own schedule, at your own pace, from wherever you are.
