A message from the program director

James C. Gee, Program Director, Online Master of Science in Engineering in Data ScienceI’ve always had a deep commitment to expanding access to education and knowledge on a global scale. I’ve also had a long-standing research interest in how data science can inform innovations in many different disciplines, from science and medicine to law and finance. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of Penn Engineering Online’s newest degree program.

The MSE-DS Online program builds on Penn’s tremendously successful on-campus program and reimagines it for a virtual platform. By doing so, it extends our world-class data science curriculum to students all over the world. With fully online courses, the program gives you the flexibility to learn on your own schedule, at your own pace, from wherever you are. 

But you’ll also benefit from our close-knit community of Ivy League faculty and students with a passion for data science. Through tools like virtual office hours, Slack channels, and webinars, you’ll get the academic and personal support you need to help you thrive as a data scientist or data engineer.
