If you have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree and an interest in artificial intelligence, our MSE-AI Online program is for you. How do I apply to MSE-AI Online?
In addition to the online application, you’ll need to submit a personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a resume, along with English Profiency scores if you’re an international applicant or a non-U.S. citizen/permanent resident. For details, see MSE-AI Online Admissions page.
Can I attend class from anywhere in the world? Even while traveling?
Yes, these are asynchronous, remote programs with no required log in sessions.
How long does it take to complete a Penn Engineering Online degree program?
A Penn Engineering Online degree program requires the successful completion of ten courses. Students have access to a Student Success Advising Team that can help them plan their course schedule and overall degree plan. Students can easily switch between part-time and full-time registration each semester based on how many courses they take. Enrollment in the summer semester is optional. We encourage all students to meet with a member of our Student Success Advising Team to discuss the course load and route to degree completion that best fits their needs. Depending on how many classes you take each semester, you can complete the program in 16 to 40 months.
What is the cost of a Penn Engineering Online degree program?

While this technology has brought forth opportunities , it has also created challenges for humanity that we must safeguard against.
That’s why I’m so excited to introduce Penn Engineering’s new online Master of Science in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence (MSE-AI Online), which will prepare you to address those risks head-on while building the technical skills to create innovative new AI tools.
In collaboration with Penn Engineering faculty who are some of the top experts in the field, you’ll explore the history of AI and learn to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges of the future. You’ll be prepared to lead change as we embark towards the next phases of this revolutionary technology.
All of our classes are 100% online and asynchronous, giving you the flexibility to learn at a time and pace that work best for you. While you can access this world-class education remotely, you won’t be studying alone.
