Master of Computer and Information Technology Online students enter the program from a broad range of professional and academic backgrounds: stay-at-home parents looking to restart their career, doctors aiming to expand their technical knowledge, and everything in between. Most applicants do not have any background in computer science.
MCIT Online provides a collaborative and structured curriculum that supports students in achieving a wide variety of goals by delivering courses in a format that fits into many different lifestyles and schedules. The welcoming community of virtual learners is actively engaged in supporting, encouraging, and inspiring each other throughout their Penn Engineering Online journeys.

MOSA is the inaugural student-led organization for MCIT Online. MOSA works to develop and foster the MCIT Online student community through opportunities geared towards academia, network building, and career growth.

SPARC is an optional summer competition in which students can showcase their technical abilities to future employers as well as transferable skills from past academic and professional experiences through side projects.

With a typical TA-to-student ratio of less than 1 to 25, students receive course-level support from peers with similar experiences.
