Statement on Coronavirus Pandemic

We are aware that prospective students may encounter delays & complications due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you have concerns about submitting your materials by the deadline of October 1, please contact us at online-admissions@seas.upenn.edu.

English Proficiency: For applicants required to submit the official TOEFL score as a required part of their application: We recognize that some applicants are having trouble accessing TOEFL exams due to COVID-19. If you are able to get official TOEFL scores to us by October 1, this will greatly strengthen your application. That said, in light of the circumstances, if you are not able to access TOEFL testing, we will accept your Spring 2021 application without official TOEFL scores. Once your application is submitted, you will receive an automated email with instructions on how to submit a TOEFL waiver form. Use this form to explain your circumstances and your English proficiency. Your information will be provided to the appropriate admissions committee and your admissions decision will be based on the materials available at the time of review.

GRE: Since the GRE is optional, we will still need to receive the official scores by October 1st if you’d like them to be considered for Spring 2021.

If you are unable to submit your application by October 1, you are welcome to apply for Fall 2021. The Fall 2021 application cycle will open on January 2, 2021.
