Staying Connected:
How Penn Regional Alumni Clubs Cultivate Community Locally and Globally

When you choose to enroll with Penn Engineering Online, you are embarking on much more than a master’s degree program. You are joining a worldwide community of lifelong learners in pursuit of engineering education. Our dedicated staff and faculty provide an abundance of resources to help you achieve your academic goals but the support from Penn doesn’t end when you complete your degree. Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania not only signifies the conferral of a diploma — it marks your entry into a dynamic, far-reaching network of graduates. This connection is strengthened, wherever you are, through Penn’s Regional Alumni Clubs, which offer invaluable opportunities for engagement. The volunteer-led Alumni Clubs—spanning 33 U.S. states and 44 countries—foster meaningful involvement through robust programming, shared experiences, and the continued expression of core Quaker values. This community is not merely symbolic; it plays a vital role in the continued professional, social, and intellectual development of alumni throughout their post-graduate journey.

Penn Alumni Regional Clubs connect thousands of alumni with one another through hundreds of events each year. The following events are examples of how clubs host programming that fosters continued connection and engagement after graduation.

Social & Networking Events

PennNYC organizes frequent happy hours, cultural evenings, and reunions for recent graduates. The Penn Club of Chicago offers activities such as park picnics, book mixers, and summer meet-ups, while the Penn Club of Hartford hosts wine-tasting networking events.

Community Service & Social Impact

In Sarasota, the local alumni club partners with Southeastern Guide Dogs to sponsor guide-dog puppies—a tradition sustained for over a decade. They once raised more than $5,000 in a single year. In Seattle, alumni support the Ronald McDonald House and other nonprofit organizations.

Outdoor & Cultural Activities

Alumni clubs facilitate a variety of outdoor adventures, including weekend hikes organized by the Cleveland and Atlanta clubs, and guided explorations of national parks through “Discover the American West” experiences.

Family-Oriented Programming

Child-friendly events such as sports clinics and museum tours provide opportunities for family engagement while fostering community amongst alumni.

Virtual Speaker Series

Many clubs—especially smaller ones—host or participate in live-streamed lectures and discussions, featuring Penn faculty, administrators, and students. These virtual sessions enable knowledge-sharing and participation from around the globe.
