On September 18, 2024 Penn Engineering Online presented a webinar hosted by Boon Thou Loo, our Senior Associate Dean for Education and Global Initiatives, which featured the Program Directors of our three online master’s degree programs. In this webinar you will meet these renowned members of the Penn Engineering faculty:
Professor Thomas Farmer
Program Director, Online Master of Computer and Information Technology (MCIT Online)
Farmer worked as a programmer and completed a postdoctoral fellowship for the US Army Research Laboratory doing RFIC research before becoming an instructor. He is passionate about offering foundational computer science education to high-achieving students worldwide.
Professor James Gee
Program Director: Online Master of Science in Engineering in Data Science (MSE-DS Online)
Professor, Department of Computer and Information Science
Professor, Department of Radiology
Dr. Gee’s research and experience has focused on biological and medical image analysis and computing, with active research in the field. He directs the Penn Image Computing and Science Laboratory, researching methods for extracting, analyzing and integrating information from imaging and ancillary data. He also directs the Translational Biomedical Imaging Center and the Interfaces Program in Biomedical Imaging and Informational Sciences.
Professor Chris Callison-Burch
Program Director: Online Master of Science in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence (MSE-AI Online)
Callison-Burch is a renowned researcher in natural language processing, currently focused on applications of large language models to long-standing challenges in artificial intelligence. He has over 100 publications and is frequently consulted as a subject-matter expert in the field. In 2023, he was invited to testify before Congress about generative AI and copyright law.
