Fireside Chat: Anant Agarwal

On November 13, 2024 the Academic Innovation Speaker Series was launched by Penn Engineering’s Office of Academic Innovation (OAI) with the presentation of a special Fireside Chat.

The discussion featured Anant Agarwal, Founder of edX and Chief Academic Officer at 2U, who is highly regarded as a pioneering leader in the EdTech industry. This event presented an opportunity for audience members to gain insights from a visionary who has transformed the education landscape through technology.

The conversation was facilitated by Richard Forman, the Chair of Penn Engineering’s Board for Online Engineering Education. Forman and Agarwal’s chat explored the unique challenges and opportunities in the online education landscape and transformative learning approaches, which demand adaptability and creativity. Their discussion also explored the impact of advancements in technology — including artificial intelligence — on the education sector and their outlook on the future of academic innovation.
